JR Quattro Radio System
If you are just starting out in electric flight, you will need a good quality radio system at an economy price. The JR Quattro is an economy level analogue radio. It is an authentic, stand-alone four channel radio (unlike the radio supplied in many cheap park fliers) which you can change from model to model. It is available in many formats.

The basic format is a 4 channel set with nicads and three JR-507 standard size servos (like in the photo except only 3 servos). There is a nicad battery in the Tx, a 600 mAh nicad pack for the Rx, and a dual charger that plugs in to a 240V outlet and charges both nicad packs at once. The Rx is a R610 type. A pair of crystals, a switch harness and a 300mm aileron extension lead complete the set - all for only $199.

The only problem with the basic set is that the standard gear is too big for many electric flight projects - the Rx and servos are too big and heavy, and the Rx battery is not used. Not to worry - an electric flight set is available which offers outstanding value - it includes micro gear AND a speed controller:

Features are
  • 4 channel FM radio system
  • digital proprotional
  • manual trims
  • servo reversing all four channels
  • R700 slimline receiver
  • supplied with 3 x JR-371 micro servos
  • 600 mAh rechargable Ni-Cd batteries in Tx
  • plug-pack wall charger for Tx
  • 20A speed controller - ideal for park flier
  • Price: only $249
