Cable types
It is imperative that you use cable which is capable of carrying the current you intend to use. Research has shown that the current carrying capacity of wire depends on the surface area – thus many fine wires carry current better than one thick wire. That is why many manufacturers specify highly flexible cable for electric flight – flexibility is a characteristic of cable with many fine wires (and it folds up easier into your aircraft). To give you an example of what I mean, the 2.5 sp.mm cross-section cable listed below contains in excess of 600 fine wires and will carry current up to and exceeding 50A!

Cable for Servos and Rx batteries:
AN-7457/31 NEW - Servo cable from Aero-naut at an excellent price (see image below) - for extension leads, servo leads and the like. This is a good quality servo cable that you can use in your wings when fitting aileron and flap servos. It is three strand cable in red/yellow/black, and each strand is 0.14 sq.mm in cross section. It comes in bulk packs of 5m. Now only $8.00.
 
MPX-175191 Battery cable for making up Rx battery leads, or extending cable from the switch harness. This is heavier duty thatn the servo cable so that it will carry more load. It is two strands in red/black, and each trand is 0.25 sq.mm in cross section. It comes in packs of 5m and costs $9.95.


Cable for Flight Packs:
Pictured above, starting third from the left. These cables are high quality, mostly Swiss made, have many strands, are quite flexible, and will carry many amps for their size:

MC-05 Battery pack cable 0.5 sq.mm suitable for indoor, park fliers and sports use up to 15A - has 256 strands of copper in the 0.5 sq.mm cross section. Available in black and red at $5.95 per metre.

MC-15 Battery pack cable 1.5 sq.mm suitable for use up to 30A - has 342 strands of copper in the 1.5 sq.mm cross section. Available in black and red at $8.95 per metre.

MC-25 Battery pack cable 2.5 sq.mm suitable for use up to 50A - has 651 strands of copper in the 2.5 sq.mm cross section. Available in black and red at $11.95 per metre. See below for new offering.
