These cells are good quality Sanyo, sub-C size, NiMH cells of 3000 mAh capacity. They are a new cell from Sanyo, designed to cater for the power tool market; they are designed to last 1,000 cycles and deliver medium level currents (quite high enough for our sports use). The new construction method used in this cell has broken reliability barriers, and is subject to a patent from Sanyo. They will last much longer than other NiMH cells currently on the market (see the HR3000 on the left in the picture attached).

Phil Connolly has tested the Sanyo 3000CPU cells, and found that they are better than the CP1700, 1700SCR and RC2400 cells, but not quite as good as GP3000 and GP3300 cells (as far as internal resistance is concerned, and the ability to hold voltage under load). Phil found the Sanyo 3000CPU cells quite suitable for sports applications up to and exceeding 50A. Of course, if you want a competition pack, you will go for the GP cells, but you will pay a lot more money.

One little feature I really like with these cells is that they have a protective ring around the positive nipple - this means that you will not splash solder down under the heat shrink when soldering end-to-end. I usually add my own little ring of masking tape when soldering end-to-end, but that is not necessary with these cells.

So, if you are in the market for sports cells to power an outrunner motor (or similar), these will be ideal.
