Hyperion LiPo cells have earned a good name amongst electric fliers. Bob Hickman has reviewed them in his Airborne columns and spoken enthusiatically about them. They measure up - in performance, durability and incorporating the latest developments in LiPo technology.
The latest release of Hyperion LiPo cells are called Litestorm or LVX series. The South Korean manufacturers claim 20C continuous, with 30C bursts for 20 seconds, from these cells - that means that you can draw amp rates of up to 30 times the capacity of the cells (eg.1200 mAh cells can deliver up to 36A for 20 seconds). They also claim 2C charge rates are possible and give up to 80% capacity to the cells (previously a 1200 mAh pack could only be charged at 1.2A and take one hour - now you can charge at 2.4A and take half an hour).
But there is more - and it is not steak knives - these packs come with a balancing plug that is compatible with the Hyperion LBA10 balancer - buy these packs, and the matching active balancer, and you will have no more headaches with mismatching plugs.
Couple all that to the fact that these packs are smaller and lighter than most, and less expensive, and they present as a compelling range of LiPo batteries. In the chart, the number in the cell type column indicates the mAh capacity of the pack. The Series column indicates 2S (7.4V), 3S (11.1V), 4S (14.8V), 5S (18.5V).
