| I have been looking for a glider like this for ages! This is a lightweight electric glider with ailerons and FLAPS! This is what is needed for those accurate landings required in 7-cell glider competitions. This is what the Omega lacked.
The Sky Sergio is made in Russia by free flight modellers who know how to build strong and light. The total weight of this kit is 300g. That's right, only 300g!! And that's for a 2.2m glider! The wing is a three-piece unit of balsa construction with a carbon tube spar, and already covered on Oracover Lite. The joiners are carbon rods. The wing section is thin (fast climb) and slightly undercambered (great glide). The fuselage pod is made from carbon & fibreglass, and painted white. The tail boom is a rolled carbon tube. The tail feathers bolt on (bolts supplied). The Sky Sergio can pack flat in a box for transport or storage. The accessory pack also includes a fibreglass nose former that can be positioned by the user to suit, small plastic control horns, and wire pushrods. Controls are ailerons (two servos), flaps (one servo) and elevator. Rudder can be added if required, but comes fixed. Sub-micro servos like the JR-371 or the Protech B109 are recommended. The Cyclon Elite Mini would be an ideal motor, coupled to GP-1300 cells (that's what I tried - now converted to LVZ1200-2S LiPo). A Hyperion G2213 or G2220, Kontronic Fun geared 400 or 480, or a geared Hacker B20, would also suit. Either one of the Mega motors, or a small Align outrunner would also suit. For a brushed motor, a Speed 480 with MP-Jet gearbox would fly this aircraft very well, and then you could use a lightweight Schulze controller for brushed motors. The Sky Sergio was the subject of a very positive review in the October 2005 edition of QEFI magazine. The reviewer found the model a delight to fly and a doddle to land. First flight was 35 minutes. Then he went to the Scottish Nationals and came 4th in both the 30 minute and Electroslot events. He said that it would handle a much larger range of wind conditions than you would imagine for such a light-weight aircraft. Wingspan - 2200mm For an alternative see the hitech Pulsar 2008 which is now in stock - click on the link. I am now an agent for all Star flight kits made in Russia. See the Star Flight web site for all the possibilities - click this link. |
